Welcome to Speaking Threads LLC. I’m founder, Ellyane Hutchinson. I’m excited to venture on this journey of sharing my love of all things textiles, fiber and threads. I want to share these wonderfully uplifting processes. It connects us to our ancestors, to each other and to future generations.
Finding time, away from screens, to relax is more important than ever before. Weaving, knitting, lacemaking, spinning… Gets you in the zone and in community. Its a daily mini vacation that results in a physical object that you can wear, share, gift and be proud of.
I have over 30 years experience in fiber arts designing custom knit and crochet pieces as well as production crocheting. I’ve explored a wide variety of textile techniques, using pre-industrial tools and materials within and outside of their cultural context. I’ve studied lacemaking in Europe and the U.S. I’m an active member of Brooklyn Lace Guild, Woodland Weavers & Spinners Guild, & International Organization of Lace, among others.
