Internship Experience

Manas Pandy

I am a final year student of B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) at Chanakya National Law University, Patna.

I interned with Kaden Boriss Partners, Lawyers – India Office in the months of October and November, 2015.

Kaden Boriss is one of the leading firms in India which find a place in the most reputed Legal 500 as well. My internship commenced from 14th October and the subsequent 30 days were an enriching experience which helped me acquaint myself with complex issues of Investment and Commercial laws. The best part about being a part of Kaden Boriss was that you get to learn directly from the Partners of the Firm as they trust the interns with their work.

The Founder Partner of the firm Mr. Hemant Batra interacted with the interns on the first day of the internship to make us feel comfortable at the office. The office is beautiful with separate work stations for each intern.  I had the opportunity to assist A.R. Nayak Sir who heads the Real Estate Practice of the firm and Swati Ma’am who heads the M&A practice of the firm and learn from their expertise. The Dispute Resolution Partner of the firm Mr. Aditya Shankar, who works from the Nizamuddin office, also gave some research work to the interns from time to time.  Nikita Sayam Ma’am, who is an Associate at KB Partners, always made sure that the interns are allotted with some work and guided the interns with the allotted research. I got to work on issues relating to FDI, Real Estate Laws, FEMA, RBI and Arbitration. You can also be given the task of assisting in drafting of legal opinions or agreements. Every intern is expected to choose a topic and submit an article before the conclusion of the internship.

The work environment at KB Partners is something that I had never experienced before in any of my previous internship. Everyone from the Partners to Associates were so hospitable and warm that you feel a sense of belonging to the place. Everyone is given a chance to voice their point of view on the matters they are working on which is appreciated by the members of the firm. Every intern was given a Cake (Chocolate Truffle!) by Preeti Ma’am before the Diwali Holidays which is merely indicative of how sweet everyone at the office was. During the internship at Kaden Boriss, everyone makes you feel that you are making a difference to the practice of the firm. What else does an intern seek?
