I am a fifth year BBA.LLB student at Symbiosis Law School, Pune and I had interned at Kaden Boriss Lawyers Partners- India Office from 2nd November 2015 to 4th December 2015.
The application process is straight forward where in a mail is to be sent to the firm’s id. They reply promptly with a date for an interview and the selection is based on your CV and the telephonic interview conducted by the associate or the partners.
The office is located in DLF Phase 1, near DT Mega Mall, Gurgaon. At the very first look, it comes across as a tastefully done up office with beautiful interiors.
On my first day, I was greeted by Ms. Nikita Sayam, who is an Associate Advocate and is in charge of the interns there, amongst other things. She showed me around the office, introduced me to the partners, explained the working system of the office and immediately assigned me work. She is extremely helpful and warm, constantly guiding the interns and ensuring that they always have interesting and meaningful work to do.
This is the case with every person at Kaden Boriss. From the office boy to the partners, everyone is very helpful and friendly. The partners directly interact with the interns, assign them live cases to work and can be approached freely for any query. They treat the interns like members of the the firm and make them feel very comfortable.
The special highlight of the internship is the interaction with the Founding Partner Mr. Hemant Batra, who despite busy schedule, makes it a point to meet and talk to all the interns and get to know their interests. It is truly inspiring to hear him talk.
During my course of internship, I dealt with a variety of laws, ranging from Intellectual Property Rights, Company Law, Real Estate laws, SEBI, FEMA to Energy Laws and Constitutional Law gaining an all round experience in Corporate and Litigation research, drafting of legal opinions and preparing case notes.
All the interns are required to submit an article and also give a presentation at the end of their internship. The presentation was one of the most knowledgeable experiences of my internship, as apart from researching in depth on the topic, i had to present it to the partners who are very encouraging and interactive. They give real life examples and make it very easy to understand concepts.
On the whole, my internship at Kaden Boriss has by far been the best and most enriching internship that I have done in 5 years of my graduation with a superb work environment.
I have not just gained holistic knowledge about corporate law but I have also started enjoying corporate law, which had always been my Achilles heel. Apart from law, I also learnt important lessons about work ethic and professionalism, which will definitely help me in future.
I am sincerely grateful to each and very person at the firm for this wonderful experience.
